Infoterra

Infoterra combines knowledge of environmental and land-change science, data acquisition and management with expertise in geographic information systems (GIS) to provide customers with innovative environmental data products and solutions.

Through its involvement with major environmental inventorying and monitoring projects over 20 years, Infoterra has acquired extensive experience spanning land-cover/land-use mapping for national authorities and agencies worldwide. These include the European Commission and the European Space Agency, working within the framework of the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security programme (GMES), at cross-border, national, regional and local levels.

Real-world examples of how remote sensing has succeeded in practical environmental applications can be found at TerraCare hotspots. These TerraCare hotspots demonstrate Infoterra’s ability to reach across the globe through an approach based on spatial and temporal scales appropriate for a broad range of environmental projects.

Infoterra France is a wholly-owned subsidiary of EADS Astrium, Europe's leading space systems and services specialist, and part of Spot Infoterra, the Earth-observation division of Astrium Services, an EADS company.

About Infoterra

Why Infoterra is right for you ?

Infoterra has domain expertise in forestry, agronomy, land-change science, numerical modelling, remote-sensing analysis and environmental engineering. Our approach is based on developing a close working relationship with customers.

Infoterra

  • Uses customer-furnished imagery data sets
  • Uses the right data processing tools. Our teams have developed a number of tools such as Overland, which enable us to select the approach and methodology best suited to your project:
    • optical (from MR to VHR) and radar satellite sensors
    • aerial photography
    • field data
  • Covers projects at all scales, from continents and countries to smaller areas such as protected areas, based on a combination of scientific research and technical know-how
  • Tailors its approach to the design and methodology required to match the project’s nature, content and structure

Infoterra fully develops:

  • Technical capability: optimized satellite tasking and acquisition planning, geometric tools and know-how, especially for forest management, forest mapping and stratification, and forest monitoring focusing on degradation.
  • Operational capability:
    • Existing archives: 7-year SPOT archive as a baseline for change detection, plus other multisensor archive data.
    • Acquisition capabilities: multi-satellite access, mass-processing tools for value-added land-cover maps.
  • Value-added capability: Partnerships with environmental and forestry experts, consulting and engineering companies (certification, carbon stock assessment, etc.).
